Wood coating emulsions

Five grades from the supplied wood-coating overview. Values are typical. The document describes these waterborne products as low VOC without grade-specific test data, so no certification claim is made here. RU-5972 is intended for a two-component system; verify formulation compatibility.

Industry selection

Technical Selection & Resources

Compare the current wood-coating emulsions by wood substrate, coating layer, formulation system and application conditions.

What to confirm

Wood substrate

Identify wood species or panel, surface preparation and any existing coating.

Layer and appearance

Specify primer or topcoat, clear or pigmented finish, gloss and feel targets.

Formulation system

Distinguish one- and two-component systems; describe additives, crosslinker and compatibility requirements.

Process and tests

Share application and drying conditions with adhesion, hardness, water or scratch test requirements.

Selection FAQs

What differs when specifying primer and topcoat needs?

For a primer, describe substrate preparation and intercoat compatibility. For a topcoat, define appearance and surface performance. Test both within the complete coating structure.

Can one- and two-component systems be interchanged directly?

Confirm the system described in the product information, then check formulation, supporting components and process conditions. Similar solids content alone does not establish interchangeability.

How should Tg, MFFT and viscosity be used?

Compare product parameters with actual film-formation, drying and application conditions. Typical values support initial screening and do not replace finished-coating tests.
